Robbery and High-Speed Fleeing Result in Arrests

March 9, 2010 - GOLDSBORO - Darrell Braswell and Susan Hunter are facing multiple charges after an event that started at the Wal-Mart on Highway 70 West. Goldsboro Police Officer Dillon Fleming was in the parking of Wal-Mart when he was approached by Wal-Mart security personnel who told him that the suspect Darrell Braswell had just stolen various items from the store. When Security confronted him, he charged at them with a utility knife and fled from the store with the stolen merchandise. The suspect was able to flee the scene driving off at a high rate of speed down highway 70 towards Goldsboro. As Braswell approached the intersection of West Grantham Street and Claridge Nursery Road, he sideswiped another vehicle traveling down West Grantham Street. Continuing to flee from Officers, Braswell collided with the railroad tracks on the 600 block of West Oak Street causing extensive damage to the vehicle he was driving. With the assistance of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and other Patrol Officers, Braswell was apprehended on the 100 block of Rockefeller Court. An accomplice, Susan Renee Hunter, was apprehended on scene at Wal-Mart.

Braswell was charged with Felony Armed Robbery, Felony Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Felony Speed to Elude Arrest, Misdemeanor Careless and Reckless, Misdemeanor Speeding, Misdemeanor Driving Left of Center, Misdemeanor Hit & Run, Misdemeanor Fire Lane Violation, Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked, and Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Bond was set at $290,000.

Hunter was charged with Felony Aiding & Abetting a Felony, Felony Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $75,500.
